What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It
Privacy Policy — What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It
Effective Date: October 21, 2025
1. Comments
When visitors leave comments on our website, we collect the information shown in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you use it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
After your comment is approved, your profile picture (if linked via Gravatar) may be visible to the public next to your comment.
2. Media
If you upload images to our website, you should avoid uploading images that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download and extract any location data from such images.
3. Cookies and Contact Forms
If you leave a comment on our site, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to re-enter your details when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and log in, we will set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.
When you log in, we also set up cookies to save your login information and display preferences.
Login cookies last for two days.
Display preference cookies last for one year.
If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. When you log out, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, a cookie will be saved in your browser that contains the post ID of the article you edited. It expires after one day.
4. Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles or pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited those websites directly.
These external sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content — including tracking your activity if you have an account and are logged in to that external website.
5. How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This helps us recognize and automatically approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our website (if applicable), we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.
6. What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account on our site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you — including any data you have provided to us.
You may also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you.
This does not include data we are legally required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
7. Where We Send Your Data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
We may also share limited data with third-party service providers (e.g., payment processors, analytics providers) strictly as necessary to operate our website and comply with legal obligations.
8. Contact Information
